The Maine Women’s Fund Appoints New CEO
Portland: The Maine Women’s Fund Board of Directors and staff are pleased to announce Sarah Ruef-Lindquist, Esq., CTFA, as the new CEO of the Maine Women’s Fund. Ms. RuefLindquist will take the lead of the Maine Women’s Fund on April 1. "We are very excited to have Sarah join the Fund. Her strong background in philanthropy, estate planning and resource development of non-profits will help us meet our goals of increasing the Fund's philanthropic assets and growing our impact throughout Maine," says Layne Gregory, Board of Directors Co-Chair. "And she is incredibly smart and fun. We cannot wait to start working with her."
Ms. Ruef-Lindquist has extensive experience in fundraising, grantmaking and fiscal efficiency. She has won the admiration of her clients as the Senior Gift Planning Consultant at Planning for Good, a consulting practice she founded in 2008. Ms. Ruef-Lindquist advises organizations and their donors on maximizing the value of planned gifts to grow endowments to create sustainable organizations. She served in 2009 and 2010 as Gift Planning Advisor to Colby College in their successful $376M Reaching the World Campaign, and in 2011 and 2012 as Gift Planning Advisor at Pen Bay Healthcare Foundation.
About her new role, Ms. Ruef-Lindquist stated “The opportunity to lead the Maine Women's Fund at this time is exciting and humbling. I am very pleased to lend my knowledge, experience and energy to building the resources that will support effective programs that empower women and girls to their fullest potential for the good of Maine and beyond."
Following law school, she practiced law before becoming Vice President for Southern Maine at the Maine Community Foundation, where she established relationships and worked with donors, community leaders, and key strategic partners throughout the State. Following her time at the Foundation, she served as Vice President and Sr. Administrative Trust Officer at Union Trust Company in Ellsworth and Camden, Maine, until she founded Planning for Good in 2008, and re-established her law practice in 2010.
Over the years, she has served on eighteen boards throughout Maine, including the Maine Philanthropy Center and Maine Bar Foundation (2010 President), for which she has received many awards and accolades. She currently serves on the boards of Friends of Mid Coast Maine and the Maine Planned Giving Council. Ms. Ruef-Lindquist received her B.A. from Southern Methodist University and J.D. from Franklin Pierce Law Center, now the University of New Hampshire School of Law. She is also a graduate of the Institute for Civil Leadership in Portland, and attained her Certified Trust and Financial Advisor designation from the Institute of Certified Bankers of the American Bankers Association. She is a member of West Bay Rotary Club in Camden.
