New Girls’ Network

The New Girls’ Network Program is a leadership community that gives women in their 20s and 30s a chance to build their networks, explore social change and unleash their leadership potential.

At the Maine Women’s Fund, we believe that in order to develop ourselves as authentic leaders and differentiate ourselves from the “old boys’ network,” young women must commit to an ongoing practice. As such, the New Girls’ Network acts as a catalyst, bringing women together for a ten-month exploration of philanthropy, activism and feminism through stories, reflection and dialogue. Over the course of ten months, trained facilitators create learning environments in which participants discuss and discover:

Because each woman brings her own set of expectations and values to the circle, each will walk away with unique outcomes. Some New Girls go on to advocate for a cause, some mentor women who are budding entrepreneurs and some work or volunteer on programs that create lasting change in their communities. Wherever their journey takes them, participants remain united through the strength of their collective experience. New Girls continue to connect online and at ongoing alumnae networking and learning events, both formally and informally. By completing the program, New Girls join a network of more than 250 women from all across Maine who are passionate about creating positive change.

We welcome your participation. Register for the 2009-10 New Girls’ Network leadership communities in Bangor, Lewiston/Auburn, the Mid Coast, Portland and Waterville. The program fee is $250. A $50 registration fee is required; the remaining $200 balance is payable over the ten months of the program. Registration closes on September 15.
