We have something to offer women at all stages of their lives - from young to old, businesswomen, moms, and those who live in rural areas to urbanites. If you want to create lasting change in your community, and help women and girls reach their full potential, we invite you to join the Maine Women's Fund community!
The Maine Women's Fund Wish List: How you can get involved!
Recognize the great women in our community. Here's how:
- Tell us about the great things you or another women within the Maine Women’s Fund community (New Girl, Women Standing Together, etc.) is doing so that we can create a profile about what you are doing to make a difference today!
- Help find the 2008 recipient of the Tribute to Women in Industry
- Nominate an amazing business women who you have always admired or who has made a difference in your life
- Comb the web for impressive Maine business women and send us your ideas
- Send the nomination announcement to your professional network and peers
Share knowledge and learn
- Host a Power Hour* discussion at the Maine Women's Fund
- Host a Women’s Work Session* at your work place
- Identify three women you think would enjoy getting to know the Maine Women's Fund and invite them to an upcoming event, send them a folder of information, invite them to coffee to tell them about the Fund and/or ask them to meet with Eli or a member of staff. Please let Eli know who you identify so that we can coordinate with others if needed
- Forward a Maine Women’s Fund e-newsletter to 2 friends with a note about why you’re involved
Join or volunteer on a MWF committee or program
- Join a committee: Evening to Honor Maine Women and Girls Committee, Finance Committee, Marketing and Communications Committee or a Regional Advisory Council
- If you're a woman in your 20's or 30's, join the New Girls Network
- If you're a business woman, join Women Standing Toegther
- Help plan or run a fundraising event
- Be on call to help with mailings, office tasks, banner & sign making and more
- Participate in our grant review process
- Volunteer to help us redesign our office to create a new “center” for women to connect with the Maine Women's Fund
Other ways to have some fun while supporting a great cause
- Encourage women to attend the June 19 Women Standing Together Kick-Off Breakfast in Bangor. And, attend the event yourself, as well!
- Join a construction and paint team to fix up our office and help create a new “center” for women to connect with the Maine Women's Fund
- Organize a table for the Evening to Honor Maine Women and Girls
*What is a Power Hour? A Power Hour session is when women get together to connect and learn more about topics they are passionate about. To host a Power Hour, simply choose a topic and date. We can help you invite others. You don't have to be an expert or a facilitator. You just have to be someone who wants to share ideas!
*What is a Women’s Work Session? A Women’s Work Session is a workplace opportunity to learn more about the Maine Women’s Fund. To host a Women’s Work Session, simply let us know that you would like to have a session at your work place and Eli will come to talk to your organization about the Maine Women’s Fund and the work that the Fund is doing.
